Industrial Activity Increases. This chart shows some of the factors that contributed to a gain of 7.8 per cent in industrial activity in the first quarter of 1936, over the same quarter of 1935, as shown in the associated press industrial index. The slight decline in automobile output is the result of the high level of production that prevailed in the closing months of last year. The 1936 figures are partly estimated.
