Indicted for contempt--Joe Adonis (left) and Anthony J. Accardo (right), two of the country’s underworld chieftains, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington today on charges of contempt of Congress. Adonis, reputed overlord of gambling and vice on the east coast, and Accardo, reported heir to Al Capone’s Chicago underworld organization, were cited for their refusal to answer questions posed by the old senate crime investigating committee which Sen. Kefauver headed.
