Jean Bellows. (Bellows) / "Jean, 1921" is Bellows' sketch of his younger daughter Jean, at age six. Born in 1915, Jean was named after the Bellows' close friend, Eugene Speicher. She was high spirited and tempestuous, and once caused her volatile father to exclaim, "Where in hell does that child get her vitality? And her temper?" (Mason)
