Lima, Peru: The Peruvian government said late 6/2 that a dam high in the Andes, weakened by earthquakes 5/31, burst. Two towns 18 miles apart -- Yungay and Caras -- were destroyed by the floodwaters. There is no estimate of the number of dead in the new disaster.
