Kitchen Work Made Easier. Model kitchen for minimum housework exhibited by the New York Heart Association at the Museum of Natural History in New York. Dr. Lillian M. Gilbreth, consulting engineer and chairman of the association’s committee which planned a “work simplification” kitchen, demonstrates one way to take it easy. Seated in the kitchen’s “baking corner” – a work counter 32 inches high – she shows that a lower work surface is more comfortable when long-handled utensils are being used. The sink, high and low work counters, supplies and ice box are all within easy reach.
