Mrs. Bettina Carter, immunologist at West Penn Hospital is shown working in her laboratory on the new injection -- an extract known as "hapten" -- for use in the treatment of Rh mothers or the baby itself. One doctor said "It might be the means of saving 4,000 babies annually." So far 21 out of 27 babies so treated have been saved.
