Mrs. Mary Jane Jeffries, 22, is in Cook County Jail in Chicago today after she refused to surrender her two children to her divorced husband, Richard, a sailor who lives in Miami, Fla. The husband and his parents were awarded equal custody of the children. Mrs. Jeffries said she will remain in jail as long as need be rather than give up the children. She is awaiting an appeal of an extradition order for her removal to Florida.
