Ice Breaker Keeps Channel open: An ice breaker is at work keeping a channel open on the Illinois river near here. A tow is following closely behind as it goes through an open span in the background. Ice on the river ranges from 8 inches to 2 feet in depth, but unlike the old days traffic on the river keeps moving.
