Husband of child bride arrested

Melvin Cook, 29, husband of Miami's 15-year-old bride, Janet Winthrop, is shown in custody here yesterday as he and his wife await Dade County deputies to return them to Maimi. Cook and Janet fled form Miami in defiance of a court order which placed the girl in custody of her parents. The marriage ceremony was allegedly performed in Georgia where Cook maintains it is valid. Pair were picked up at a friends house in nearby Auburndale. They were planning to go to California in a few days.
