Hurricane -Hunter. Advance warnings to Atlantic, Gulf and Caribbean shore residents of impending storms heading their way cost millions of dollars if the forecast is right or wrong. Such forecast are the results of 25 years of intensive study and research, including many in-hurricane flights from the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida. Robert H. Simpson, the new 55-year-old head of the facility, is a pioneer in the field of hurricane study. He organized the National Hurricane Research Project in nearby Palm Beach and "Project Stormfury", which attempts to tame the storms through seeding. At Miami, Florida, Robert H.
