Hurricane Gladys Churns Atlantic-While Hurricane Gladys is still 1750 miles east-southeast of Miami, the storm is driving west-northwest at about 14 miles an hour. It is expected Gladys will turn to a more northwesterly course and slow her forward speed slightly during the next 12 hours. She packs 90-mile-an-hour winds. The center is about 700 miles east northeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico and not expected to hit land in that area.
