I.W. Abel, challenger to incumbent David J. McDonald for presidency of the United Steelworkers makes an unqualified victory claim 3/5. Abel also said the union and the basic steel industry should be able to reach agreement on a new contract before the 5/1 strike deadline. Abel made the remarks in an exclusive interview with UPI reporter Richard F. Fontana.
