Mrs. Hulda Crooks, a 72-year-old vegetarian, looks down from the summit of the 14,485 foot high Mt. Whitney which she scaled 8/18 with her two septuagenarian brothers despite sub-freezing weather, heavy winds and snowy conditions. Mrs. Crooks, a research assistant at Loma Linda University at Loma Linda, Calif., has scaled Whitney 7 times in the last 7 years.
