A 72-year-old woman and her two brothers, also in their seventies, braved subfreezing weather and heavy winds to successfully scale Mt. Whitney here 8/18, Mrs. Hulda Crooks, research assistant at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif. (L), Chris Haines, 77, of Issaquah, Wash. (C), and Dr. Edward Hoehn, 75, of Angwin, Calif., climbed the 14,485 foot peak in 7 1/2 hours. The trio is shown at the summit. Girl in background is not identified.
