Housewife Turns to Machine. Mrs. John B. Edwards, left foreground, works in a new factory in Cleveland, Ga. Mother of five, she was brought up on a farm. Her husband, a carpenter, was injured in a fall last year. The opportunity to work in the factory was providential. "I do about half the housework before I go to work," she says. "Then I do the other half when I get home in the afternoon." Mrs. Edwards is typical of Southern workers who have been swept up in the industrial upsurge sweeping the South.
