Houseboy found guilty of slaying employer sweetheart

John R. Crooker Jr. (right) and his sister, Caroline Crooker, talk with his attorney just after Crooker was found guilty today of the murder of a socialite divorcee who was his former employer and sweetheart. The conviction made his sentence to death in the gas chamber mandatory. He was convicted of stabbing and strangling Mrs. Norma McCauley, 33, mother of three sons. He had been employed as her houseboy, but he testified their relationship turned to romance.
