Bellows, George, 1882-1925 · 1921
Bellows found excitement in every aspect of the fight. Before the brutal event, the tense contender is being reassured in the comer by his manager, while the champion, the fairhaired boy of the evening, is acclaimed with enthusiastic shouts. Less theatrically posed than most of the fight lithographs, the smoky atmosphere and the rowdy crowd are conveyed successfully. (Mason)
