Fort Charlotte, Nassau, Bahamas

Fort Charlotte, Nassau, Bahamas, which was named for the consort of King George III, guards the western entrance to the harbour. This fort was commenced in 1787, soon after the Earl of Dunmore was appointed Governor of the Colony and completed within two years... The fort is now used as a signal station. During the winter season conducted tours are arranged thru the underground passages for the benefit of visitors. The guides are dressed in the colourful uniform of the Old West Indian regiment.
