Forging Alaska-Canada Link. Canada- A welcome Army of invasion is the great force of U.S. soldiers now cutting the Alcan Highway through Canada's Wilderness to Alaska. This new Life-Line to the north slashes through bushland, across muskeg and rivers to create a vital artery in North America's network of defense. Mosquito net and spade are standard equipment as work by the U.S Army goes on apace hewing out the mighty highway. Shown here is Pvt. M. Swain of Payson, Utah, with the necessary netting and shovel.
