Flag at Half-Mast for Comiskey But Game Must go on. News of the death of J. Louis Comiskey, owner and president of the Chicago White Sox reached his team while they were engaged in the second game of a double-header with the Boston Red Sox and the flag in center field was immediately lowered to half staff; the game went on to completion. Mr. Comiskey, who was 54 years old, died of heart disease and pneumonia at his summer home in Eagle River, Wisc., Photo shows the center field flag at half-mast as the second game went on, at Comiskey Park.
