Five Years Ago This Week Partly enveloped by drifting sand is this abandoned farmhouse at Dallas, in one of the areas stricken by the unprecedented drought which brought with it soil erosion and dust storms. On August 6 President Roosevelt entered the Dakota drought region and on the following day, after a tour of the area, pledged himself to bend every effort toward a solution of the problem.
