Gulfport, Miss: There was at least one happy note to hurricane Camille. When Mrs. Donna Bilyeu fled her home 8/17 night she left behind the family dog “Dobie”. When she returned early 8/18 all she found left of her house was the foundation. Sitting on the front steps was Dobie, who had been locked inside before the 160 mph winds hit. In the area around her here there were originally 12 houses, now there is nothing but trash. An estimated 200,000 persons were left homeless in three states.
