Guild Strikes New York Times-Members of the New York Newspaper Guild set up picket lines shortly after contract negotiations with the New York Times recessed this morning. The talks, which center on a dispute over automation, were scheduled to resume later today. New York's afternoon papers were going ahead with plans to publish despite an earlier statement that a strike-forced shutdown of the Times would lead all of them except the New York Post to suspend publication.
