"Guides for Guided Missiles: Real "live" subminiature precision rate gyroscopes - the world's smallest and lightest - are used in this unusual exhibit to demonstrate how the gyro is applied to a 3-axis control system for guided missiles. Specially designed and built by The United States Time Corporation, of Waterbury, Connecticut, it is one of the features of the American Watch and Clock Industry's exhibit being held through the month of April in the 14th Street foyer of the Department of Commerce building. Any visitor can participate in the demonstration simply by pressing a button, which activates the gyros to a speed of 24,000 RPM from a dead start in less than 15 seconds. Then by rotating three knobs, directional effects of the gyros on the missile are indicated by sensitive needles on the three dials in background.
