Held in slaying

Orlando, fla. -- William Vicks 35, Orlando, is held in Orange County jail here where he is charged with the Wednesday midnight slaying of Mrs. Velma Hoover, also 35, a widow who moved to Winter Park in February from Pennsylvania after her husband died during an operation. Mrs. Hoover mother of four, was shot in the chest with a .22 automatic pistol allegedly fired from Vicks' car as she was standing in her yard. Vicks was picked up 20 minutes after the shooting when Winter Park police stopped his car for a minor traffic violation.
