Clifford Fortner, 15, of nearby Kentfield, is comforted at the district attorney's office here last night by his mother, Mrs. Norman Fortner, shortly after Sheriff Louis Mountanos announced that the boy had confessed to the slaying of Lorna Lax, 12-year-old Kentfield girl Nov. 15. Mountanos said young Fortner told of killing the young girl with a steak knife.
