"Guaranteed supply of help"

Chief Warrant Officer Frank Beardsley and his wife, Helen, walk past 17 of their children after retirement ceremony at the Navy Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., today. Beardsley retired after 30 years and 21 days in the Navy -- during which he acquired a family of 20 children. Beardsley, now 51, was the father of 10 children when his first wife died. He married Helen, now 36, the mother of eight, and subsequently had two more children. The Beardsley family will run a "Mr. Doughnut" shop in the Monterey area. Beardsley said he has a "guaranteed supply of help" for at least the next two decades.
