Growth Aided. Ten-year-old Kathy Dix, left, of Pikesville, Md., shares a reading lesson with Debra Mask, 8 right, in the 4th grade classroom at Scott's Branch elementary school in Baltimore, Md. Kathy, one of the nation's some 10,000 hypopituitary dwarfs, has had her growth helped by receiving hormone injections at Johns Hopkins Medical School under the supervision of Dr. Robert M. Blizzard, head of Pediatric Endrocrinology. When she began the injections two years ago, she was 36 inches 11, a foot shorter than a normal 8-year-old. Now Kathy is 42 inches tall--and still growing.
