Marcus Kammeran, above, 66, an Austrian importer-exporter, is being held to the grand jury on a charge of murdering his wife on recommendation of a coroner's jury. A police interpreter, Jacob Lehman, told the coroner's jury Kammeran, who does not speak English, admitted beating his wife, Melvina, 55, for two hours because she had withdrawn $60,000 from their joint bank account and was threatening divorce. Mrs. Kammeran died in a hospital of her injuries.
