Held in connection with shooting of father

Detroit, Mich.....Lyle Griffith, Jr., 14, is shown in a Detroit juvenile house of detention today, where he has been held since last night when he allegedly wounded his 42-year-old father with a .22-caliber rifle bullet as the man was being taken into custody by two policemen. Earlier in the evening, the elder Griffith had allegedly seriously beaten his wife, Mabel, 45, who signed an assault warrant against her husband after her removal to a hospital. When two policemen brought young Griffith and a younger sister back to the house, they found the elder Griffith in bed, and the police took him in custody. As they led him to the patrol car, he stumbled, and at that moment a bullet allegedly fired by his son from a window, struck him in the chest.
