Former Canadian soldier Arnold Craig, 25, is shown in custody today after he gave himself up to police. Craig reportedly told police that in 1944, he and a British corporal robbed and beat to death a French girl near Lille, France. Craig is said by police to have told them that he and the unidentified Britisher made the rounds of local bars with the girl, and then noticing the quantity of francs she carried, beat her to death. Craig reportedly told authorities that he's had two nervous breakdowns since then and broke his engagement to his fiancee because of his feeling of guilt. Craig will be held while his story is checked by French authorities.
