Held for assault with intent to kill

Augustus Heald Jr is being held on the above charges pending autopsies on the bodies of two women who died Saturday, one by gunshot wounds, while the other was found in a bathtub in her apartment. Further charges may be filed pending the outcome of the autopsies. Mrs Mariba Beard age 40 was found in the tub. Her sister, Mrs Edna Hamilton age 47 was shot while running from the house after finding her sister's body in the tub. Heald, a former state prison inmate was arrested at his apartment without a struggle.
