A long building with open arcades on both sides, divided into two by a row of pillars which support a flat roof; at the far end is a doorway with pointed arch. Fish lie on slanting slabs, near which a number of buyers and sellers are standing. Through the Gothic doorway at the end we see a second Gothic arch which forms the entrance to a portico beyond. Between the near and the far arch a small portion of wall is visible, brightly lighted from above. within the farther arch hangs an electric lamp, and beyond this a curtain, looped up, and draped over the left side of the openings to the portico. The burr which was on the curtain, pillar and vaulting of the portico has been scraped down and is now light.
