Fish Festival -- More than 2,000 anglers fish through holes chiseled in the ice of White Bear Lake near here in St. Paul's annual winter carnival ice fishing contest. Fishermen, spectators and automobiles form a curious pattern against the expanse of ice and snow. Carnival opened Jan. 31 and continues through Feb. 8.
