First Pictures of India Earthquake: Credited by some devout natives as being the wrath of the gods of the Himalayas for the recent successful flight of British aviators over Mount Everest, a terrific earthquake shook many provinces in India January 15. Whole towns were destroyed and the death toll was heavy, being finally/and unofficially placed at approximately 9,000 persons. This photograph was made of the destroyed police inspector's bungalow in Jamalpur province, where loss was heavy.
