First Photos of the Ruins of the Railway A photograph of the ruins of the railway station at Jamalpur, northern India, were many persons were killed in the earthquake of January 15. This particular view is of the waiting room, part of which collapsed on an incoming train, killing many. Final and unofficial estimates of the dead in India reached 9,000 persons, the property damage running into millions of rupees. This is the first photograph to arrive in this country of the earthquake damage.
