Here horses leave the paddock for the track. Keeneland Race Course occupies about 150 acres of old Keene Place, founded on a tract of approximately 8,000 acres granted by Patrick Henry, then governor of Virginia, to his kinsman, Francis Keene. The 1 1/14 mile oval track is considered one of the fastest in the country; grandstand seats 2,500. Spring and summer meets.
