Dunn, N.C.... Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Wood, of Dunn., embrace as attorney E.L. Doffermyre tells them that the death sentence of their son, 30-year-old Thomas Wood Jr., has been commuted to life imprisonment by Governor W.K. Scott. He was due to die in the gas chamber today for the murder of his wife. His parents spent weeks praying and reading the bible and remaining steadfast in their faith that their boy would be saved. Today they said: "The lord answered our prayers because we've got faith."
