Gas Chamber Awaits First Condemned Woman. San Quentin Prison, Calif.. This is San Quentin’s gas chamber, where Mrs. Juanita Spinelly - the “Duchess” - is to die of cyanide fumes tomorrow. It contains two chairs and the Duchess is to be executed in the number 2 chair shown through the entrance in the picture. Two fellow gang members are scheduled to die together one week later. The three were convicted of the murder of a fourth member of the gang.
