Explaining New Phone Weather Service. New York, N.Y.- Dr. James H. Kimball, New York meteorologist (left) and Ralph E. Walker, vice president of the New York Telephone Company, are pictured at the Weather Forecast Bureau which will be opened by the New York Telephone Company here, as the latter demonstrated an automatic device for giving weather information. Beginning at 12:01 A.M. tomorrow (April 8), New Yorkers may dial a number and hear the latest weather forecast spoken over the wire by a special voice recording and reproducing machine of the N.Y. Telephone Company. The number that will bring information as to whether it will be clear or cloudy, rainy, warmer or cooler, is weather 6-1212.
