Gloria Jean Burge sobs on the shoulder of a friend, Mrs. Mabel Thompson, after she was sentenced to one year in prison for the 5/1 knife-slaying of her stepfather. The 17-year-old high school junior, who will be given psychiatric treatment while in prison, was acquitted in September of the knife-slaying of her mother, which occurred at the same time.
