On the left a quay with sailing boats moored along it; in the distance a bridge spanning the Yare; on the right, riverside warehouses and small boats with sails spread. A clear sky and ripples on the water. Drawn on the plate straight from nature, and so reversed. A strong line is introduced defining the edge of the quay and boats behind the mast already mentioned. Fresh, heavy lines on the bows of the three-masted ship alongside the quay on the left, to right of the bowsprit. The masts have been darkened and are clearly defined among the cordage.
