On the left a quay with sailing boats moored along it; in the distance a bridge spanning the Yare; on the right, riverside warehouses and small boats with sails spread. A clear sky and ripples on the water. Drawn on the plate straight from nature, and so reversed. The mast surmounted by a flag near the middle of the plate has no tackle on either side, and appears to rise directly from the water. The farthest sail on the right is lightly shaded. Near the lower right corner a patch of water measuring about 30 x 90 mm is left entirely blank.
