In the foreground, on the right, Wotan is seen, clad in his cloak and wearing a traveler's hat. He has his spear in his left hand. With his right hand lowered to the ground, he commands Erda to appear. She appears in the background, almost in the middle of the composition. She is standing and dressed in a white, long and straight tunic. One of her hands is placed on her chest. With her other hand, she raises the great white veil that covers her and throws it back.
