A Great Battery--Connie Mack, 89-year-old one-time major league catcher, huddles with Bobby Shantz of the Athletics before the start last night of the twi-night twin bill with the Washington Senators. Mack, no longer active in managing the affairs of the A's, has followed them on their current road trip and was in the stands Sunday when Shantz dropped his fourth game of the year, losing to Washington. The pint-sized Philadelphia hurler is the first major leaguer to win 20 games so far this season. Connie was managing the team when Shantz was signed several years ago.
