Grant's Tomb. The last resting place of General U.S. Grant is situated on Riverside Drive and 123rd Street overlooking the Hudson River. His body and that of his wife were placed in this beautiful tomb in 1897. It was erected at a cost of $600,000, and the beauty of its rounded exterior is surpassed only by the impressively silent interior, bathed in a soft purple light.
