Grandma Turns Inventor. Mrs. C.R. Shaw, who is 64 and a grandmother, became an inventor because she was tired of picking her two-year-old grandson up off the floor after his frequent falls off chair. Mrs. Shaw fashioned and received a patent this week on the safety strap shown being worn by Gerald Mader, whose toppling led to his grandmother's brainchild. They demonstrate how the child can reach for objects without falling and how he can be moved along with the chair.
