From "War Memories" catalog: During a battle "field hospitals" are established as near as possible to the line of battle. This view gives a glimpse of the field hospital at Savage Station, Va., during the battle of June 27, 1862. The wounded that are brought in by the hundreds and laid on the ground. The surgeons are busy dressing their wounds.
