A group of Muses. In the foreground, on the left, Eralo stands in profile with her eyes fixed on her tablets. In the middle front, Polymnie, also stands with her lyre in her hand. On the right, Urania sits and holds a globe. In the background are Calliope, Clio (trumpet in hand), Euterpe, Thalia (with her mask), and Melpomene (her arm raised). Terpsichore is further behind and higher than her companions and is in a dance pose.
