Fantin-Latour, Henri, 1836-1904 · [ca. 1836–1904]
Study sheet, consisting of three sheets, each with 5 or 6 trial proofs, then combined. 1st sketch (on the right in the final edition) - A young naked woman squats, three quarters to the left, and a drapery is on her right leg. There is a shaded background. There are two faint sketches of standing naked women in the trial proof - one on the left and one across, above. They were removed in the final print, as well the number 115, placed to the right of figure. 2nd sketch (in the middle of the final sheet) - A naked woman stands. Her arms are raised on her head, and in a sort of a cloud. 3rd sketch - A naked woman lies to the right and rises up to look. Her hand is over her eyes. Behind her is an overturned drawing of a woman's body, without a head.
